The Last Hunt on the Last Frontier with Alaska Chick
“I’m going to have the best hunt and be the best hunter that you’ve had all season” ~Wally Hagan said to me as we were finishing up his paperwork after breakfast.
~ Funny guy.
I have to admit, it had been a long Season for me. (I was doubtful.) As the day went on and we finally headed out, I found myself very comfortable and happily sharing tid-bits of local history and facts about the area.
Watching a couple great bull Mountain Caribou, getting snuck up on by an Alaska-Yukon Moose, actually "chasing" a Mountain Grizzly, only to finally admit, maybe not and turning around to see another one. Stalking yet another Grizzly and shooting off my back at the fourth Grizzly to harvest a gorgeous Toklat Grizzly Bear. Having the awesome fire all night long on the river and watching the storm from hell roll over us as we make our way home. Sleeping all afternoon and the caping party.~And this was in the first three days! (Love that lucky hat!)
It makes everything just right when you have a client who wants to be part of everything, wants to experience everything and enjoys every minute of each day. The kind of guy that looks at a midnight run in freezing temperatures, sleeping on the rocks next to the river and waking to a snow storm is all just part of the grand adventure.
The ride to a new camp, the disappearing moose, the moose that thought Wally was riding his missing cow and the absolute pleasure in each day. Wally took to what we call "Overly-Time" as if he'd been raised on it, and the days went by too fast.
Every turn in the trail brings pure pleasure to his eyes and face and it is there for anyone to see, and I am not blind.
Wallace Hagan Ⅲ from Maryland and Hagan’s Expert Tree & Stump company. He was a pleasure and easy company to spend the time with and get to know. A husband and proud Daddy, we feel as if the boys have already been here to play and we already know the family.
An experienced rifle and bow hunter with a rich humor about the games Mother Nature can play, I couldn’t imagine any hunt not pleasing Wally. The obvious love and respect for the outdoors plays a huge part of every part of his life.
So, this is my thanks. Wally, you were right. I had a wonderful wrap to my 2011 Hunting Season. I really enjoyed every minute of each day. You put the shine back on the “why”.

I am, Alaska Chick.
“As you look, really look, and find no words; feeling both, your heart healing and filling to an inner bursting point and feeling that your soul has been laid open to the breeze and wind like a raw wound. This takes you beyond the physical, past the mental; this is the spiritual element. This is Chisana.”
