Rants, Temper Tantrums, Passion and Alaska Chick
Hey! I just went over this with Pioneer Outfitters new trainee, Wes. I had my Be Right talk.
Keeping you all in the loop as best I can, you know I have been having some “issues” with our bandwidth and getting online these last couple of months.
Sigh. Still having trouble with that.
The point of bringing that “issue” up again (and again) is that I am WAY behind on answering emails, posts, comments and all sorts of other stuff...
So, if you are STILL waiting, please try to bare with me awhile longer. (Please!) I am working, I am catching up and I have not forgotten you or quit doing STUFF! Really!
So. I opened The Sales Lion this morning, to Marcus Sheridan’s “When It Comes to a Blog Rant, Disclaimers Don’t Exist.” It is a great post! If you haven’t seen it, you should.
What I have learned in this remarkable year of 2011 is that everything I learn, no matter what the source, can be applied in reference to Social Media, our personal and incredibly diverse occupations or even our private lives and dealings.
So what did Marcus have to say in his post that set me on this path to follow?
“But if you say it, you now own it.” (-Marcus Sheridan)
My thoughts, my input?
Be right.
Yep, that’s my rule. Especially for myself, but we all have the tendency to put our “rules” onto others and what we expect of them.
I am relentless with myself and becoming more and better than I was yesterday. This is one of the rules that are in the front of my mind always. Be right.

Going off on a rant, even throwing a temper tantrum, is ok I think, as long as you have a point, that there is a point. As long as you are RIGHT. Sometimes, a little (or a lot) of passion can make your point, bring it to the front of everything else...but always, Be Right.
When you are in charge, the boss, head-honcho, whatever, you need to lead your people, the people that follow you, work for you, look to you for answers, even your children, need to know you are right. Need to have faith in you that you will lead them the right direction and that you do have the answers.
If you are a Guide, or want to be, the people you are leading are counting on you- Be Right.
Think things through. Make lists. Research. Explain and reiterate. Go off on a rant, if the time comes.... but, Be Right. And by the way, we are only human. If you find you were wrong, admit it, Be Right.
Here are a couple of my favorites to share with you!
“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” Buddha
“If you would convince a man that he does wrong, do right. Men will believe what they see.” Henry David Thoreau

I am, Alaska Chick.
“As you look, really look, and find no words; feeling both, your heart healing and filling to an inner bursting point and feeling that your soul has been laid open to the breeze and wind like a raw wound. This takes you beyond the physical, past the mental; this is the spiritual element. This is Chisana.”
