~Other than my children, of course and then come my horses! But you hear enough about my two great loves. This is the rest!
I love to read. Books have always been an essential part of my life and day to day living. Biographies, fiction, fantasy and romance by certain authors are my absolute favorites.
What a wonder it is, to open a book and within moments, be completely immersed inside the world that has been revealed.
Books are and have always been, a comfort and inspiration to and for me.
There is NO rest for the wicked (!) without a book! I read to relax or clear my mind. 5 minutes even, can and do give me a fresh outlook as I return to the job at hand.
99% of my library is packed. Sadly and all alone, packed inside heavy boxes, waiting for me to rescue and love them once more. At one point, I had half of my library in Chisana, half in my house in Tok.
As the Castle began to become a reality, the house in Tok was completely packed and prepared to be flown into Chisana. As the Castle was a known home due finished by November 1st... 2010.
Thus, my library is packed and without my Color Nook, I would be lost.
Here are the books I have on my Nook now...
For pleasure,
The Outlander Series written by Diana Gabaldon
#1, Outlander (AWESOME!)
#2, Dragonfly in Amber (Fantastic...)
#3, Voyager (Wow, I can't even imagine... this is the pleasure book I am reading right now)
#4, Drums of Autumn
Absolutely EVERYTHING by Nora Roberts (or written as J.D. Robb!)
I love James Patterson (his Witch and Wizard series is pure entertainment! A little juvenile, but enjoyable by any.)
The entire Alex Cross Series, also written by James Patterson on my Nook and slurped them down with the same starving enthusiastic need as is usually reserved only for Nora Roberts or Dean Koontz.
I feel as if I “grew up” with Dean Koontz and I believe it is he and his writing that instilled the understanding and acceptance in me of that good must ALWAYS battle evil, and it will always be a battle that must be fought. As well as the acceptance of .. other, in our lives.
I of course read my dear friend, Brian Meeks’s Henry Wood Detective Agency! It was endearing. Henry, is endearing. I can’t wait to read what comes next! My son is now reading it and I can’t wait to hear what he has to say when he is finished.
For Improvement (on me, of course!) I read,
For My Heart
For My Soul
For My Brain
Music is another source of comfort and inspiration that has been part of my entire life. I always felt a little shorted because both my sister and my brother have musical and vocal talent .... but what about mine?!
I love to read a variety of different types of books. That variety is nothing compared to the variety of music I completely, heart and soul, love.
Some of my favorite music is...
I'm Alive (With Dave Matthews) by Kenny Chesney
George Jones singing Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes
The River Just Knows by Rodney Atkins
Life Ain’t Always Beautiful by Gary Allen
If You’re Going Through Hell by Rodney Atkins
Blue Eyes Blue by Eric Clapton
I’ll Fly Away Medley from the Glory Revealed Live album
Tangled Up In Me by Skye Sweetnam
Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
You’ve Got A Friend by James Taylor
Life Is A Lemon And I Want My Money Back by Meat Loaf
These Boots Are Made For Walking by Nancy Sinatra
Have A Little Faith In Me by James Hiatt
Hand To Hold Onto by John Mellencamp
I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers
Stand By Me by Ben E. King
Renegade by Warren Zevon
You Sang To Me by Marc Anthony
Hooked On A Feeling by Baha Men
Somebody Stand By Me by Stevie Nicks
...and I’ll just keep adding them... when I can get online!! I am also going to attempt to put music links on this page at some point! Although I am not quite sure if that will work!
Movies? I have my favorites, I can admit it. I can also admit I have no, nada, zilch, zero tolerance for commercials. Ever. So. We have movies. Not really like you may have movies. Not even really like Block Buster has movies.... we, ah, we have MOVIES!!
So, movie night is a big deal, bla bla bla, it’s been a few years since I had the opportunity (um, read, “space”) to watch a movie, but everyone still gathers together to have movie night at the Lodge or at my house.
I’ll pop some popcorn or dish up some ice-cream and get everyone settled... then try to get some more work done! (I do listen!! LOL)
Some of my favorites have been favorites since I was just a child, some are fairly new...
Amadeus
Tank Girl
Avatar
How To Train Your Dragon
Davinci Code
Tears Of The Sun
Bram Stoker’s Dracula
Kalifornia
True Romance
