Monday Motivation: Recognition and Praise

“There are two things people want more than sex and money…recognition and praise.”
~ Mary Kay Ash

Recognition and praise.

Two incredibly precious gifts to give, but also, two valuable motivators and inspiration to receive.

 Monday Motivation: Recognition and Praise

Recognition and praise.

Recognition is appreciation or acclaim for a service or achievement.

Praise is to express warm approval or admiration for something and is the expression of respect and gratitude.

“Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you become your reality.” ~Les Brown

Our last Monday Motivation touched on this topic as well, and how hard it is to keep your eyes up and forward, to keep going, to keep working towards that goal or dream you are reaching for.

We all need a reminder, now and then.

When everything in your life seems to be conspiring against you. Equipment or tools break, deadlines are missed, people around you seem to be in their own doldrums and dismiss all you are doing and trying so hard to accomplish.

We sometimes need a reminder, to Stay the Path.

“Never consider the possibility of failure; as long as you persist, you will be successful.”
~ Brian Tracy

Last night I posted Suddenly Sunday with 15 minutes to spare being completely over due for the second time in one week. The fact that I am writing these posts from my tiny dark cave (yes, cabin fever has started chewing in me), the fact that I missed my first post in the two years I have been blogging, with Alaska Chick’s Blog’s birthday coming up fast and the last two posts have barely made my own deadlines….

… none of that matters.

What matters is that I believe this is what I need to be doing.

For us, for the business, for the people who find this and read it. For all the people who have already found Alaska Chick’s Blog. For us all, it has to be what it was meant to be.

Not rushed or busy, we all have enough of those flavors in our lives, but a clean and sparkly window.

A window that you can see through and into our lives. A window in a door you can open, if you wish.

So no matter how hectic things are here in Chisana, no matter how many times I get to explain what a “blog post” is to my own people, no matter how bad our internet connection may become, I will continue.

For you and for myself.

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in, forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day, you shall begin it well and serenely…”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Recognition and Praise

Stay motivated and Stay the Path.

You are not alone.

I appreciate you and I see all that you are putting into the dream and the goal.

  1. I love this quote!

    Pretty much says it all!

  2. Yes. Very, very hard to do even though I know it to be true. Maybe it’s that we subconsciously have such high standards and expectations of ourselves? That’s a wonderful thing…because it means that you love who you are and what you’re doing AND how much recognition and praise means to you. People who know that are often the ones who dole it out so sincerely and regularly!!
    Like you!

  3. Recognition and praise are wonderful things. I’m sorry you’re feeling a bit of cabin fever, but hopefully spring will arrive before you go too mad.

It seems you’ve been working really hard on your blogging. I see you commenting EVERYWHERE, which is a great way to build an audience. Don’t worry about missing a post, you’re doing a great job.

Now, what is the story with the person buried up to their waist? Are they stuck?

I imagine getting buried up to one’s waist is a common occurrence, but I still want to know.

Oh well, that is all. I hope you and all the horses are doing well (Especially Frankie Blue Eyes). Hang in there.

    • Brian!
Ha, you crack me up. I’ll get you some fresh pictures of Frankie when I see him next!

The story behind the guy buried to his waist? LOL, it’s one of those things… in different ways, that can make you laugh (period), make you laugh at yourself, or just be the proverbial “straw that broke you.” (Cause there just aint any camels in my neck of the woods!) The place we were at in the picture is one of our favorite camps. We were out setting another length on a trap line that day and decided to check on the cabin. Well, the path leading up (UP) to the cabin, crosses a few pretty deep ditches / dips (as you can see!) and when The Boss and Colton were walking back down the trail, they were walking side by side, instead of single file. (snort)

I must admit, I knew what would happen, from my own graced experience! So I just focused and waited. He just walked off the hard pack, which is no big deal, usually, but he stepped from the hard pack on the trail (sinking maybe 3″ in the crust of the snow), directly above the deepest ditch. I must admit, it was cause for great laughter and giggles as he climbed back out, and we walked back to the sno-gos to head home (about an hour away, by sno-go).

I am working really hard, Brain, thank you with all my heart for noticing. (sigh) I believe strongly in what I am doing…learning to do and tomorrow is Alaska Chick’s Blog birthday. I would like for the world to know us, know we are here, know US, as people. Know who and what we are and why. Most of all, I want the world to know how important each and every single one of the people we do meet, are to us. Knowing them and being part of making their dreams come true.

      I’m hangin!
