As you all know, I love quotes! Inspiring, motivating, reminding-me types, all kinds of quotes. When I followed the link that caught my eye, I found what I had needed to find at the end of a really long few days, evaluating and seeing in person, what is what and where. “Sheep on the mountain!” was the only report I gave before falling into bed and quickly, asleep.
“There are no guarantees. There is only the path.”
~ Henri Junttila, from Finland, he is @henrijunttila on Twitter and can be found in a mind-boggling way, at (as he puts it) The Cloud.
Deep inside our nation’s largest and most magnificent National Park, we have been doing what we do. The Wrangell St. Elias National Park. Camps have been set out, the horses are ready, groceries and supplies are being flown in and the guides are mentally pumped.
Glassing the mountains, talking out plans, double-or-nothing bets being laid on guides that have great and grand plans to have a record book trophy for his client, who is going to get charged by a Grizzly, who will find the biggest moose, you know, the usual.
“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other” – Abraham Lincoln
Another usual is tempers get short, already strong guides spend more time training, already experienced and ready guides checking and re-checking equipment, testing, shooting and adjusting.
Until the first Dall Sheep is harvested, until the Interior Mountain Grizzly Bear falls down and until that last giant Alaska-Yukon Moose drops, there is that tension.
Hunting is as old as man-kind.
It is what we are made, at the most basic level, to do. It isn’t magic, although there are very sacred traditions to be followed. It isn’t all skill and experience, or the even the best of the best wouldn’t go home empty-handed at times. It isn’t only Mother Nature and it isn’t only a critter’s fight or flight or even a survival instinct. It is all of it. Each piece plays a part.
~ “if you value integrity, peace, self-growth, and feel like you’re supposed to do something, but you’re not sure what, yet, then you’re in the right place.” Henri Juttila
As I have seen more and more here, (On Alaska Chick’s Blog and Out There… with people online, everywhere.), that there is a very special gift, right here, right now, available to everyone, everywhere. Our brothers and sisters of humanity. All with pieces of the same heart.
“When the solution is simple, God is answering.” – Albert Einstein
The changes in our lives here, in Chisana with Pioneer Outfitters seem almost surreal. The focus being utterly focused on the changes in the world and the need for a strength in our leaders.
This entire-world-distress has brought a renewed determination to be even better, to do even more, have more people be part us and each other.
The NEW 20 Day and 30 Day All Game Hunts were and are a great move. For our client’s enjoyment and satisfaction, for the guides, the Outfitter and the land.
It is our dearest hope that these hunts will attract more Hunting Families. They are already off to a wonderful start doing just exactly that. What could be more special, but to share in something so natural, as a family?
Pioneer Outfitters is known for Hunting Retreats for families and friendships with connections to the outdoors, the land and friendships that bind us together. Booking only the longer, more satisfying Alaska Hunts.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
So off to the field with all I’ve learned, not the technology, but the life-direction lessons, knowing I will come home every 10 days to have something new to share with you all, in return. We are starting or building on that start of our friendships, here and now.
(Thanks, Henri. For the inspiration, and for being such a unique blessing to us all.)
