Today’s Monday Motivation may offer you the encouragement you need and an answer to the weight in your heart. When we advocate for others, we are standing for them for the entire world to see.

There is nothing that compares to the feeling of doing something good and right for or with someone who needs help. It is one of those magic tricks of the world that in helping others we feel such a lift in our own spirits and energies.

There is something in the world today that is creating a me-me-me-mentality. It is a self-serving and a life of using anyone or anything to get ahead.

We have such a grand and enormous potential to do unbelievable good in the world today. There is already such good in the world! With the technology that we have so easily at out fingertips, our reach into the world to lift others up and advocate for others is at it’s greatest ever.

As Professional Guides, our lives are a service to others. The greatest service that a Professional Guide offers is the keeping those who we guide into the wilderness safe from harm. We offer pieces of our own lives and experiences with others, encouraging them and directing them to fulfill their own dreams of experiences in the wilderness.

As Leaders, we know that we are not infallible, that we have a need for one another. Our teams, our families and our mentors are the ones we turn to for guidance, acceptance and advice. Leaders understand it is in lifting others up, guiding, supporting and advocating for others in which our truest and most fulfilled moments happen.

The skills used in advocating for others are the skills we use and strengthen our entire lives. They are skills that will touch the world in a positive way, no matter in which position you might be to use them.

  • Be respectful.
  • Be inclusive.
  • Speak up!
  • Find common ground.
  • Know the needs.
  • Find the positive in everything.
  • Tell the story; stories connect us.
  • Keep it short, keep it simple.
  • Take care of yourself.
  • Be real, feel and share what you feel.
  • The bottom line, the goal.
  • Stay on task; Stay the Path.
  • Don’t lose hope and never give up.
  • Work hard and be familiar with all routes to the goal.
  • Pay it forward.

Stand for the Man in Black is a fundraiser to replace the vitally needed aircraft lost to a terrible fire in September, 2013. The airplane needed to survive in the remote Alaskan Wrangell Mountains and to provide search, support and rescue to those who may find themselves in need and to locate and care for the range horses that are a beautiful and precious part of Pioneer Outfitters heritage.

To find out more about Stand for the Man in Black and what the fundraiser is fully and with complete openness, these pages will answer all of your questions:

FaceBook and Stand for the Man in Black

There are only two questions since this fundraising campaign began that I have not answered as yet. Both came from sharing #Stand4theManinBlack through FaceBook. I had been putting off answering them only because I thought they were excellent questions and I had hoped to make a couple more videos answering these important questions with the Continue Reading

#MyWritingProcess in the WIlderness

After being invited to participate in the #MyWritingProcess blog tour by my dear (and crazy) friend Betsy Cross, I realized I had never actually thought about whether or not there was a “process” involved. #MyWritingProcess blog tour is a chain-style-blogging-tour consisting of a variety of authors answering four questions and passing it on to others.
